Here at The Ethical Diamond Company, we’re just suckers for a soppy love story! We thought we’d share one with you (names have been changed to protect the guilty!), and maybe it’ll provide inspiration for others out there who are thinking of popping the question…
Max, a chef originally from London’s east end, had been dating his partner Zoli for five years, and felt it was time to make things more permanent. Zoli is an environmental engineer, a vegan, and, in his own words, “a bit of a modern-day hippy!” and is passionate about green issues. Max really wanted to propose with a diamond ring, but knew Zoli would not welcome a mined diamond.
Walking through London’s Hatton Garden diamond district looking for inspiration, Max came across The Ethical Diamond Company – and knew he’d found the right place! A lab-grown stone was the perfect choice, so the only thing remaining was how to set it. Our diamond jewellery is crafted with upcycled metals, another plus for Max when considering Zoli’s concerns. Max decided to go for a bespoke design – as he put it, an individual ring for a very individual person!
So what happened with the proposal?!
Well, the couple had a romantic getaway planned to Paris – where, with the Eiffel Tower in the background, Max did what he describes as “the most traditional thing I’ve ever done” and got down on one knee to ask the big question. And did Zoli say yes…?! You bet he did! But apparently only after questioning Max as to the provenance of the stone in the ring!
And yes, we have asked the couple to send us some pics flashing the bling! So watch this space 🙂
